Woodworking Workshop

Overview l Discover the joy of crafting with wood. In this workshop, you will experience hands-on woodcrafting that helps you sharpen your technical and creative skills. You will work with power tools and upcycled wood to practice measurements, sanding, cutting, assembly and painting.


Who can join? l Anyone with interest in woodcrafting from 6 years old and older. Our sessions are divided into age-appropriate projects and skills development. We can only offer limited slots for each session. (Young kids ages 6 to 8 y/o will require adult assistance requiring parent-child registration.)


Duration l This workshop may run from 3 to 4 hours per session.


Rate l Php1,200.00 to Php1,500.00 (per pax, per session)


Available Sessions l Sessions are divided into age groups following four (4) categories: 


Inclusions: This session does not come with a workshop kit but all tools and materials for the workshop session are provided, including power tools. Participants can only take home the project completed during the session.

About your Instructor l Husband and wife, Leo and Aileen Ocariza are self-taught woodcrafters and run La Upcycled together in Davao City. They specialize in home decor and furniture. It has been an important part of their woodcrafting business to consciously practice creative reuse and rethink wood waste into a valuable resource. They upcycle scrap wood and transform it into furniture, home decor and art pieces that add elegant aesthetics to spaces.

Handbuilding Pottery Workshop

Overview l Handbuilding pottery is the oldest technique in clay art making. This workshop involves creating forms without a pottery wheel, using the hands, fingers, and simple tools. You will learn and practice the most common handbuilding techniques including pinch pottery, coil building, and slab building to create your own functional tableware, vessels, sculpture, installations, and mixed media— the possibilities are endless!


Who can join? l Anyone from 16 years old and older with interest in handbuilding pottery. Open to beginners, no basic skills required. If you want to create beautiful and functional pottery, handbuilding pottery is an essential technique for beginners and experienced potters. This workshop is also perfect for those looking to develop new creative skills and connect with your inner self and the environment. 


Duration l This workshop may run from 3 to 4 hours per session.

About your Instructor l Ms. Maria Elena Remedios Palma Gil Ongkiko is an artist-teacher with expertise in heritage and cultural curation. She holds a degree in Industrial Design from the College of Fine Arts - University of the Philippines, Diliman. She was a museum curator and design consultant with a wealth of experience in entrepreneurship. She is currently an industrial design instructor at Philippine Women's College and teaches pottery at Tuburan Institute, a Steiner/Waldorf School in Davao City.

Macrame Workshop

Overview l Learn the art of knots! Macrame is a centuries-old art believed to have originated in Middle Eastern countries particularly in Babylon, Persia and Assyria. It is a mindful art practice that helps you to slow down, release your thoughts and reconnect with yourself. Modern day macrame practice has become popular in interior design and fashion industries. In this workshop, you will practice up to seven basic knots to create your first functional accessory with macrame technique from start to finish. Experiment on combining different knots and techniques to create a spectacular masterpiece that you can take home with you after the session.


Who can join? l Anyone from 8 years old and older with interest in the art of knots. Open to beginners, no basic skills required.

About your Instructor l Ar. Geeryl Mae Tayone runs and manages Hooked by G, an online craft store selling handmade items created with macrame and crochet techniques since 2020. She is an architect by profession and worked on projects for one of Davao City’s biggest Department Stores and Supermarkets. Her passion for design led her to explore beyond architecture and started her practice in macrame and crochet. Her skills come with precision in every knot and stitch.

Crochet Workshop

Overview l Learning to stitch yarn with a hook? If you are starting to crochet, this workshop is for you where you will learn the basic supplies, common stitches and begin your first project. Basic crochet is designed for absolute beginners to introduce basic terminologies and supplies to use, practice stitches, and adjust tension to start making your own crocheted items.


Who can join? l Anyone from 9 years old and older with interest in crochet. Open to absolute beginners.

Kumihimo Modern Japanese Braiding Workshop

Overview l Learn the Japanese braiding technique used to create strong cords for binding samurai armours and kimonos. In this session, you will practice this ancient artform that allows you to slow down and discover the joy of creating beautiful patterns from interlacing strands of threads through a guided braid-along process using the modern Kumihimo wheel to make a woven rope for souvenir bracelet, necklace, belt, coasters, or cord.


Who can join? l Anyone interested in learning Modern Kumihimo Japanese Braiding can book this workshop. Open to kids 8 years and older; and adults, including seniors. Open to absolute beginners.
